Juristat's Intelligence View helps you find out more information about your organization's performance at the USPTO, what competitors' performance looks like, and what outside counsel is working with an assignee.
Accessing Business Intelligence Reports
To access a Business Intelligence report, simply click the "Business Intelligence" tab in the top navigation.
Once you've clicked a tab, search for any law firm or company in the search box and click the name of your entity to pull up its Business Intelligence report.
If your entity does not appear in your search results, it may be because it is a subsidiary of a larger entity.
Filtering Your Report
The filtering options at the top of your report allow you to break down your Business Intelligence results in many ways to get a more granular look at a law firm or assignee's performance.
For instance, the Timing Options section allows you to specify how you want to assign credit for application prosecutions.
- Use Current Assignee/Firm to see data based on the firm and assignee applications are currently assigned to.
- Use Assignee/Firm at Disposition to see data based on the firm and assignee the application is assigned to at the time the application is allowed or abandoned.
Read more about the timing options toggle.
The filters allow you set criteria for the applications you want to be included in your report. For example, if you're interested in the current firms performing work for an assignee, you may want to apply a filing date filter to see which firms filed applications for the assignee more recently.
Filtering options include: filing date, disposition date, art unit, technology center, USPC class, rejection and responses counts, and many more.
Read more about the "Other" filters.
Reading Your Report
The first section of your report contains a summary of some key metrics about the entity overall and broken down by outside counsel (if you've accessed an assignee report) or by assignee (if you've accessed a firm report).
From the Key Metrics table, you can use the "+" signs to add entities (up to five) to the graphs below.
The graphs following the Key Metrics table provide those same key metrics for your entity, as well as any other selected entities, over time.
We also provide additional information on our Business Intelligence reports including the number of extensions filed by year, average time to respond to office actions, frequency of rejection bases, and the breakdown of applications filed by technology center.
