Compound Metrics
Unnecessary Office Actions (BETA): (Abandoned applications only) The number of office actions this application has over the maximum number of office actions for any previously allowed application in front of that examiner. For example, if an examiner has never issued an allowance after the sixth office action, and the application at issue has eight office actions and then an abandonment, that application would have two unnecessary office actions (eight minus six).
Unnecessary Appeals (BETA): The number of appeals that reach the briefing stage when the examiner’s appeal win rate was less than or equal to the interview win rate and no interview was conducted. Appeal briefs are required since many notices of appeal are filed by applicants with no intention of filing a substantive appeal.
Missed Interviews (BETA): (Yes/No) Whether or not a pending or abandoned application has at least four office actions where no interview has been conducted and the examiner's interview win rate is equal to or greater than the examiner’s RCE win rate.
Missed Continuation (BETA): (Yes/No) Whether or not an allowed or pending application is in front of or was allowed by an examiner with an allowance rate over 90% and no continuation or continuation-in-part has been filed.
